Angels Bistro @ Raffles Place

This is contributed by clare sis. One of the days she went with wendy cousin & her colleague. From the information I've gotten, this place has been around for a couple of months and it has seen a healthy flow of customers during lunch hours. I guess you wouldnt have known this is vegetarian until you see the menu, as the name of the restaurant doesn't suggest it, which is good, as some people tend to shun the moment they see the word "Vegetarian". This place serves quite a range of organic vegetarian/vegan food mainly for the working crowd.
Ramen Set Meal $9

Angels Bistro has 2 special meal sets that is available daily. Each meal set comes with a main and sides. Wasn't too bad, as the soup is clear and sweet. Served with vegetables, carrots, corn and veg dumplings. The ramen was well cooked and chewy as well.
Yam Beehoon

This is a signature dish from the restaurant and is available daily. If you are into Yam, this is definitely suitable for you! Soup is yam-based and from the look of this, it does looked like our normal fishhead beehoon soup!

Tahu Goreng $4

This is quite a common dish this can be found, but the most important thing here is the sauce. The tasty tangy peanut sauce drenched the beancurd that was resting beside the shredded veggies & beansprouts. Aint too bad, except that it was a little pricy incomparison to other places selling this.

Other than that, Angels Bistro provides good service and the waiters/waitress are willing to share what food is recommended. Other that set meals, they also serve ala carte dishes like Tom Yum Seafood, Ba Kut Teh and laksa on certain days. I was told that the laksa is a must try, since they do not use coconut milk which is unhealthy.
Most of the dishes served are vegan except for certain western dishes which you may need to enquire more, as they may use cream. I would definitely try out this place some day!

Donut Empire Goes veg!

Im quite happy to see this news published in the papers today. Donut Empire has expanded its current range by introducing vegetarian doughnuts called "doveries"! This includes savoury egg-free flavours like curry chicken, BBQ chicken etc, whereby the meats are vegetarian mock meats!

BBQ Chicken/Hotdog Donuts

I tried the Curry Chicken donut and I think it needs to be eaten hot, as it is really oily since this is deep fried. Nonetheless, the bread is soft and curry is tasty. Not suitable for the health-minded people.

Healthy Vegetarian Food @ Golden Shoe Carpark (金富素食)

Finally had the chance to write about this stall. I was there a week back on the busy 15th of the lunar month. As usual it was long queue at this stall. Have heard about this stall that the food is not too bad. It a pity that I was not able to try the tze char hence I've opted for beehoon.

Stall Front

Fried Bee Hoon $2
3 dishes costs as little as $2. It is really affordable. I had my beehoon with Long beans, potato and the fried 'goose'. The bee hoon wasnt too oil and was quite chewy. I like the long beans was it was well cooked.

There are also other tze char meals like hor fun available.

Taste of Natural @ Raffles Place

This stall has been around since the beginning of this year but i've not tried it until last week with clare. Judging from the lunchtime crowd, it is definitely good to see a substantial number of customers patronising the stall. I guess this is the first Halal food court stall that serves Natural and Organic Vegetarian food at an affordable price. The food are prepared with natural ingredients like sea salt, raw sugar, olive oil and others. In addition, there is no usage of MSG, preservatives or processed ingredients.
Menu

This is the menu that shows what they sell on a daily basis. We were there on a tues so I tried the baked tofu while clare took the stew mushroom noodle soup.

Baked Tofu $3.80

Apologies for the bad picture. It is basically Fried Tofu topped with fresh veggies (Lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, radish) that are shredded and mixed with a special sauce. I could not make out the sauce, but it was definitely refreshing and unique. It is a mix of sweet and sour taste, but certainly not plum sauce. Most importantly, this supposedly "side dish" was very filling. I did not order any mains at all.

Stew Mushroom Noodle Soup $4.80

I tried a few mouthfuls of the noodles and the soup was really sweet. Comprises of Carrots and Raddish stewed over a long time, hence brings out the natural taste of the soup.

Other good choices: Sheperd's Pie

Veggie Stall @ The Arcade

I seldom have a chance to talk about food stalls at the Raffles place area since I do not work there. However, sometimes I would still make a special trip down from suntec for the delicious Veggie sweet potato porridge sold from this stall.

Mix Vegetables with Porridge $3.30 for 3 dishes

Its best to have this meal at lunch, as the porridge is still served hot, and all dishes are freshly cooked. Most of the braised dishes here are fantastic. However, my friends said the MSG used might me a little too much. The porridge is really good with Sweet Potato which helps digesting.
Vegetarian Bee Hoon $3.50

Bee Hoon is another choice if you are not a porridge lover. The Popiah is a MUST try!

Location: Arcade, at the end of first level

Opening Hours: Till 3-4PM daily. Closed on Public Holidays and Sundays

Genesis Vegetarian Health Food Restaurant

Had Lunch with Gilly last week. Thank you sooo much for the treat babe!

Since Gilly is working around that area, I will try to meet up with her ocassionally. Our favourite from this cafe is non other than the Mango Salad.
Mango Salad $10.90

Served in a large portion, this dish comprises of Mango Slices, Shredded Cucumbers and Mushrooms, walnuts as well as rice flour (those clear jelly type). All you have to do is to pour the special sauce on top and mix it like rojak. Totally addictive. This dish is served cold, and it is a blend of sweet and sour taste. Very similiar to the Thai Mango Salad dish. Anyway, it never fail to disappoint.

Almond Rice $4+

Gilly's favourite organic drink. She totally adores it and said that she doesnt mind drinking it every single day of her life. haha. Anyway, I tried and it does has a strong Almond Aroma in it, very natural and its not sweet at all.

I quite like the concept of the cafe, as they have a open kitchen for baking organic breads. However, if you do not take onion/garlic, do be careful of the dishes you order and make sure you enquire before ordering.
